Strongly scented wax melts across every fragrance family — fresh and clean, floral, fruity, gourmand, woody and festive. Fragrance strength is the single thing most people get wrong when buying melts, so each product page states the fragrance load and the room size it comfortably fills.
Matching scent to room
Fresh, citrus and clean-linen scents work best in kitchens, bathrooms and hallways, where they cut through cooking and damp. Gourmand and woody scents — vanilla, amber, sandalwood, tonka — suit living rooms and bedrooms in the evening. Floral scents are best in spaces you pass through rather than sit in for hours.
For the strongest scent throw, use a larger melt in a burner with a wide, shallow well and give it twenty minutes before judging it. Our guide to the strongest smelling wax melts explains why well shape matters more than melt size.
